“What, drawn, and talk of peace? I hate the word, As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee.” Act 1, Scene 1, lines 56-7 Peace? I hate the word…Īlthough not physically in the play for long, his influence is extensive and he is an omnipresent reminder of the feud between the two families. He is also the catalyst for the problems that blight our protagonists in the second half. Tybalt is Juliet’s cousin, and he is the personification of hate in the first half of Romeo and Juliet.
